Mérida, Yucatán — Owners and tenants of the TAO Condominium have denounced a serious security incident that occurred on November 30, 2025, when a night guard assigned by the company Servicios Coordinados “La Fortaleza” allegedly entered two apartments in the complex violently. The condominium administration did not respond immediately or inform residents in a timely manner, according to the complainants.

In a formal letter sent to the administrator and the Condominium Vigilance Committee, residents stated that the break-in affected apartments G102 and G202, and that the involved guard claimed to have acted “under direct instructions from the administration.” The document asserts that the subdivision’s security was compromised and, even 48 hours after the events, the administration had not issued an official communication.

In the letter, residents requested a series of urgent measures, including:

  • The immediate termination of the contract with the security company “La Fortaleza.”
  • Written information on the actions implemented to safeguard the security of the inhabitants.
  • Clear protocols for action in emergencies, verification of security personnel identity, and operational supervision.
  • The creation of a system for attending to and responding to requests from owners and tenants within a maximum of 12 hours.
  • Ensuring that the new security company complies with mandatory documentation for each employee, including criminal background checks, proof of address, IMSS affiliation, and civil liability insurance.
  • Scheduling a formal meeting to report on corrective measures and ensuring all responses are delivered in writing.

One of the affected tenants, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisals, shared their testimony about the lack of attention and transparency following the incident.

“Basically, there was no response from the homeowners’ association. The security company continued working all last week as if nothing had happened. The administrator even asked them to dress in civilian clothes to justify that it wasn’t them,” they pointed out.

The resident recounted that, despite the guard allegedly admitting involvement in the events, a document was signed that allowed for his release.

“We had the person confessing that they were involved, but since a document was signed to release him, legal action could no longer be taken. Then they gave us a lawyer who supposedly was going to advise us, but all he did was give us reasons not to file a complaint,” they explained.

They also noted that, although a report was filed with the Prosecutor’s Office, the administration did not provide them with a copy of the document or clearly inform them of its content.

“They told us they filed a report, gave us a number, and that was it. Everything was very ambiguous. I’m sure it was a procedure for whoever is responsible; the security company is never mentioned,” they lamented.

The tenant further detailed that the guard was allegedly taking notes on license plates and resident information, and that a cell phone with sensitive data remains in the possession of the security company.

Due to the uncertainty, at least five tenants decided to leave the condominium.

“They don’t guarantee us anything and they are not taking action. We can’t wait for something to happen again. Many people travel and leave their apartments alone; it’s impossible to live like this,” they emphasized.

Although in their case the owner agreed without issue to terminate the contract, the affected person stressed that several permanent residents also fear for their safety.

The signatories of the letter concluded that the incident represents a serious breach of trust, and therefore demand that all measures be documented with dates, responsible parties, and follow-up mechanisms.

To date, the neighbors continue to await a formal response that addresses their demands and guarantees the protection of their integrity and property.
