Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo officials are urging vehicle owners to renew their license plates by March 31 to avoid additional fees and secure a 100% subsidy on the annual vehicle tax. After that date, those who complete the process will have to pay the full vehicle tax plus late fees, with costs varying based on the vehicle’s year, model, and invoice value.
The State Tax Administration Service of Quintana Roo (SATQ) invited owners to visit collection and plate issuance offices and modules across the state’s 11 municipalities to complete the 2026 Plate Renewal on time and benefit from the subsidy.
To make payment easy and quick, SATQ has made the website satq.qroo.gob.mx/controlvehicular/ available. People can also check requirements by contacting Taxpayer Assistance via WhatsApp at 983 112 4047 or 983 112 4048, as well as to generate a payment reference and take advantage of the current fiscal incentives, which are set to expire soon.
Officials reminded that to complete the 2026 Plate Renewal, it is necessary to be registered in the State Taxpayer Registry (REC) and carry out the process before March 31. The benefits of activating the REC include having an electronic file that creates a history in a few steps, and greater security by managing tax obligations with more certainty.
The costs for the 2026 Plate Renewal are 1,584 pesos for cars, 733 pesos for trailers, and 528 pesos for motorcycles, plus 147 pesos for the Circulation Card. Starting April 1, the cost of the vehicle tax and respective late fees for renewing outside the established period will be added.
For the 2026 Plate Renewal, the State Tax Administration Service of Quintana Roo (SATQ) has set up 23 collection and plate issuance offices and modules across the state, of which 18 are permanent and five are temporary, to serve private and public service vehicles.
