Quintana Roo, Mexico — The tourism sector in Quintana Roo is preparing for one of the most active periods of the year with a wide range of job offerings aimed at strengthening the workforce in hotels, restaurants, and general services.
According to Tayde Rojas, head of the State Employment and Work Training Service (SEECAT), more than 250 companies in the northern part of the state have already begun recruitment processes for the high season at the end of the year, anticipating the influx of visitors expected between late November and throughout December.
During the most recent National Job Fair of 2025, held this week, more than 746 vacancies across various sectors were offered. The most in-demand positions were in the hotel and restaurant sector, though opportunities in citizen security, the Navy, self-service stores, supermarkets, and administrative services were also included.
Hundreds of job seekers attended the National Job Fair 2025 in Cancún.
"We have companies offering salaries above 20,000 pesos per month, which represents a great opportunity for citizens seeking economic stability this season," explained Rojas.
The official stated that this type of fair is organized quarterly and allows for a direct link between companies and job seekers.
"Our objective is to bring job opportunities closer to the people, so they don't have to travel to different places looking for work. In a single day, they can submit their application and find various options," she stated.
The hotel sector leads the job offerings ahead of the high season.
Throughout the year, SEECAT has held several fairs and job linking events, reaching an estimated figure of 7,000 positions generated across the state.
Rojas highlighted that the growth of the tourism sector, especially in Cancún and Playa del Carmen, has driven the demand for workers at all levels, from housekeepers and cooks to receptionists, security guards, and administrative staff.
Among the companies actively participating in this hiring phase are renowned hotel chains, which are offering more than 250 vacancies resulting from their remodeling and reopening processes. These actions, she said, confirm that the upcoming season will be one of the most dynamic of the year.
"Our offices in Cancún are at full capacity, which demonstrates that companies are betting on Quintana Roo and that the tourism recovery remains firm," she asserted.
The tourism recovery is driving the growth of formal employment in Quintana Roo.
Furthermore, the official recalled that for 2026, the opening of 1,300 new hotel rooms in various destinations across the state is planned, which will generate sustained labor expansion in the short term.
In the southern part of the state, SEECAT keeps the "Get Hired at Your Office" program active, which every Wednesday brings together institutions such as the Secretary of Citizen Security, the Navy, and local companies to receive applications and directly link seekers with available vacancies.
This scheme has allowed for the assistance of hundreds of people seeking their first work experience or wishing to rejoin the formal job market.
