Quintana Roo, Mexico — Hoteliers and tourism sector entrepreneurs are preparing for an intensive promotional agenda with participation in specialized events, most notably the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid, Spain, and the Anato Tourism Showcase in Bogotá, Colombia.
What Happens at a Tourism Fair?
During these fairs, the main objective will be to hold meetings with:
- Tour operators,
- Airlines, and
- Travel agencies,
in order to strengthen air operations and expand international connectivity.
The improvement in flight routes and frequencies is seen as a determining factor in maintaining the destination’s competitiveness and ensuring a greater influx of visitors throughout the year.
“These are truly very good news for all of us who live from tourism, the minimalism championship of soccer and being hosts of Fitur in January, with this we expect a very good year, my group sales director told me they have more groups for 2026 than any other year,” commented José Antonio Chapur, general director of The Palace Company.
Anato Tourism Showcase: Key to Attracting South American Tourism
In the particular case of the Anato Tourism Showcase, entrepreneurs highlight that it represents a fundamental opportunity to recover and consolidate the South American market, which in recent years has shown variations in its flow to the Mexican Caribbean, where countries like Colombia and Brazil are priorities within this strategy.
“Anato represents South American countries, and as we know, countries like Colombia, Brazil, Argentina have increasingly taken a more important percentage as tourists who visit our state, so it is a very important showcase to promote our destination, but we need union work,” added Sergio León Cervantes, president of Empresarios por Quintana Roo.
