Quintana Roo, Mexico — The private hospital quality of Quintana Roo has positioned itself among the best in the country, according to the Ranking of the Best Private Hospitals 2025 compiled by Expansión magazine.
In the national list, Galenia Hospital in Cancún ranks in 12th place, with an overall score of 76.54 points, representing a significant climb from the 23rd place it occupied in 2024. Galenia is also the only hospital in the state included in the national Top 50 and stands out for its high performance in areas such as processes (90.09%), results (89.83%), and technology (85.88%), establishing itself as a benchmark for medical excellence in the southeast.
In the national ranking, Médica Sur from Mexico City remains in first place for the second consecutive year, with a perfect score of 100%.
Within the Yucatán Peninsula, Star Médica Mérida also stands out, in 15th place (it rose from 24th in 2024), and Hospital Faro del Mayab, which placed 32nd.
At the regional level, in the Southern Ranking — which considers hospitals from Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Chiapas, and Veracruz — Galenia Hospital leads the list, climbing from fourth to first place this year. In this same classification, three hospitals from the Amerimed group were recognized: Playa del Carmen (12th place), Cozumel (13th place), and Cancún (19th place), making it the only hospital group with three distinguished locations in Quintana Roo.
The regional ranking also includes Hospital Joya Cancún (14th place), Joya Playa del Carmen (16th place), and the Centro Médico de Cozumel (18th place), confirming the growth and diversity of high-quality medical services in the state.
In specialty categories, hospitals in Mérida continue to stand out: Faro del Mayab excels in Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Plastic Surgery, Oncology, Gynecology, and Pediatrics, while Star Médica Mérida was recognized in Urology and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Beyond the recognitions, these results reflect a positive trend for the Mexican southeast: the consolidation of a modern, well-equipped hospital network with qualified personnel that responds to the needs of both the local population and the thousands of visitors who arrive in the region each year.
In tourist destinations such as Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel, having high-level medical services is not only a guarantee of well-being but also a strategic component of economic development, as it drives health tourism, which is increasingly relevant in the Mexican Caribbean.
