Quintana Roo, Mexico — The 2026 License Plate Renewal program has begun implementation in Quintana Roo as part of two general compliance provisions aimed at updating the vehicle registry and regularizing the tax status of owners of units registered in the state. The measure will be operated by the Quintana Roo Tax Administration Service (SATQ) and includes plate renewal and mandatory registration with the State Taxpayer Registry (REC).
2026 License Plate Renewal and Vehicle Registry Update
The 2026 License Plate Renewal contemplates the physical replacement of plates, circulation cards, and stickers corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year. The provision applies to private vehicles, public service vehicles, and cargo units, with the objective of keeping the state registry updated and complying with current regulations regarding vehicle identification, according to the official bulletin.

Plates are valid for three years, so upon completion of that period they must be surrendered for destruction in accordance with guidelines established by the state authority. The procedure forms part of the Quintana Roo vehicle procedures that must be carried out during the next fiscal year, according to information from the official bulletin.
For January 2026, the established costs for the 2026 License Plate Renewal will be 1,527 pesos plus 141 pesos for cars, vans, and buses; 509 pesos plus 141 pesos for motorcycles; and 707 pesos plus 141 pesos for trailers.
Modules and Offices for Quintana Roo Vehicle Procedures
The SATQ will enable 23 collection and plate issuance offices and modules in the state, of which 18 will be permanent and five temporary. In Benito Juárez, modules will operate at the Government Palace, Chac-Mool, and Taxistas, in addition to temporary locations at the Municipal Workers Union, the University of the Caribbean, and CECYTE II.

In Playa del Carmen, the Collection Directorate, the Constituyentes Module, and the Taxistas Module will be available, while in Othón P. Blanco the Collection Directorate, the Gandhi Module, and the SUCHAA Taxi Union Module will function. Service will also be available in Cozumel, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Lázaro Cárdenas, Tulum, Bacalar, Isla Mujeres —including the Continental Zone—, José María Morelos, and Puerto Morelos.
State Taxpayer Registry, a Prerequisite
Starting in 2026, registration with the REC will be mandatory to carry out any vehicle procedure in Quintana Roo. This electronic registry identifies individuals and legal entities with tax or vehicle obligations in the state and will be a prerequisite for the 2026 License Plate Renewal, in accordance with the state Fiscal Code, according to the official bulletin.
The State Taxpayer Registry will allow centralization of fiscal and vehicle information, as well as enable a digital file for the management of Quintana Roo vehicle procedures.
