Cancún — Amid an authentic sports celebration, surrounded by athletes, coaches, and parents, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and the head of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE), Rommel Pacheco, led the signing of a coordination and collaboration agreement that will strengthen infrastructure, training, and physical activation programs across the state.

The ceremony, held at the Parque de Los Gemelos, also included the delivery of the Unique Sports Registry (Registro Único del Deporte or RUD) to the 11 municipalities of the state, making Quintana Roo the first state in Mexico to obtain this federal recognition. This action formally integrates the state into the "Por La Paz" (For Peace) strategy led by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Governor Mara Lezama stated that this act represents "a historic step for Quintana Roo sports" and strengthens social transformation and well-being through physical activity. "In Quintana Roo, transformation is not promised, it is built. And based on the New Agreement for Well-being and Development, it is built at the field level, with real actions that reach girls, boys, young people, coaches, and entire families who give their heart and soul for sports," expressed Mara Lezama.

Accompanied by the Director General of CONADE, Rommel Pacheco, the Governor acknowledged the support of the Government of Mexico and President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, whom she thanked for promoting a humanist vision that also extends to sports.

The agreement signed with the Quintana Roo State Sports Commission (CODEQ) will allow for the strengthening of infrastructure, training, and physical activation programs across the entity. Furthermore, the RUD will facilitate municipal access to federal resources, programs such as CEDEM and Ponte Pila 2025, as well as the organization of national and international events, like the Elite 16 Beach Volleyball World Tour held this year in Playa del Carmen.

Mara Lezama highlighted that this humanist government, with a feminist heart, has invested more than 392 million pesos in 21 sports infrastructure projects, benefiting more than 160,000 people, in addition to granting scholarships and support totaling more than 35 million pesos.

She also highlighted the creation of the Department of Adapted Sports, with which Quintana Roo achieved a historic record of medals in the National Paralympiad. "Sport is an engine for peace, social justice, and shared prosperity. When a girl or a boy finds an opportunity in sports, that is where the transformation is," emphasized the Governor.

For his part, Rommel Pacheco acknowledged all the work of Mara Lezama for sports, stating she was one of the first to approach CONADE when he took the helm of the Commission. He also congratulated the parents for supporting their children in sports, an activity they prefer for the education of their children.

"In the name of Claudia Sheinbaum, we are making sport a social tool so that boys, girls, and young people play sports and create nurseries of athletes who represent Mexico," he said. He congratulated Mara Lezama for being the first state in the Republic where all 11 municipalities have the Unique Sports Registry.

For his part, Jacobo Arzate, head of CODEQ, explained that the signing of this agreement is the result of teamwork and close collaboration with CONADE. "That is why with the 11 municipalities of the state, we work under a single line of action and a single objective: that sport be a tool for social transformation that creates champions in life."

Present at this signing and delivery of the Unique Sports Registry were Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, municipal president of Benito Juárez; Estefanía Mercado, of Playa del Carmen; Blanca Merari Tziu, of Puerto Morelos; Mary Hernández, of Felipe Carrillo Puerto; Nivardo Mena Villanueva, of Lázaro Cárdenas; Elda Xix Euán, Secretary of Education; Reina Eloísa García Cruz, Archery athlete; César Oswaldo Peralta Torres, Cabinet Coordinator representing the municipal president of José María Morelos, Erik Borges Yam; and Omar Rodríguez Martínez, Trustee of Othón P. Blanco, representing Yensunni Martínez Hernández.
