Puerto Morelos, Mexico — The municipal government of Puerto Morelos is reinforcing its commitment to transparency and support for its residents through a series of tax benefits valid until the end of October 2025.

Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz reported that, since the beginning of August, the Summer Subsidies and Tax Incentives program has managed to benefit more than half of the municipality's taxpayers, promoting timely payments for property tax, permits, and other municipal fees. The initiative aims to reduce accumulated surcharges and fines, making it easier for citizens to stay current with their obligations.

Among the principal advantages are discounts of up to 60% on property tax surcharges for properties valued at up to 20,000 UMA (Unit of Measurement and Update), in addition to exemptions from previous fines for lots and homes.

Other incentives include reductions on environmental permits, construction authorizations, and land use rights, with discounts varying between 20% and 50%.

The purpose of these measures is to strengthen the municipal financial administration and promote greater citizen commitment, allowing the collected resources to be directed toward the improvement of urban services and community management.

The local authority reaffirmed that these incentives represent an opportunity for residents to normalize their paperwork and contribute to the comprehensive development of Puerto Morelos.
