Puerto Morelos Gets Free High-Speed Internet in Key Areas

Free high-speed internet modules installed at Parque Fundadores and Muelle de Pescadores in Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — As part of a digital inclusion project promoted by the administration of Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, Puerto Morelos now has two connectivity modules offering free, high-speed internet, according to Municipal President Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz.

“These WiFi modules, inaugurated in recent days by the head of the State Executive, were installed by the company GigNet and contribute to boosting the tourism development of Puerto Morelos, while also ensuring equitable access to connectivity for the people of Puerto Morelos,” she emphasized.

The Municipal President noted that the modules provide coverage at Parque Fundadores and the Muelle de Pescadores in the Casco Antiguo (Old Town), facilitating electronic payments for artisans, nautical workers, merchants, and other service providers operating in that area.

“With this service, Puerto Morelos strengthens its tourism development, advances in competitiveness and inclusion in terms of connectivity, but also enhances its appeal as a tourist destination and for investment,” she underscored.

In fact, Governor Mara Lezama recalled that from the beginning of her administration she assumed the commitment to bring public, free, high-speed connectivity to the tourist destinations of the Mexican Caribbean and stated that the inauguration of two high-speed modules in Puerto Morelos is the result of coordinated work between the State government and the company GigNet.

It should be noted that each module has a one gigabit per second link, a range of 50 meters, and capacity for 200 devices connected simultaneously.
