Cancún — Miguel Ángel Zenteno, the municipal trustee of the Benito Juárez City Council, has announced that the new market in Puerto Juárez will be developed as a space completely focused on tourism, distinguishing it from the traditional popular markets located in residential neighborhoods. This vision aims to position the market as an attraction for visitors, highlighting the gastronomic and cultural offerings of the area, rather than focusing on everyday local commerce.

The delay in the market's opening was due precisely to the clear definition of this tourist objective, which allowed for the launch of a precise call for interested vendors. With the call now underway, the market is expected to be fully operational in the coming weeks, attracting entrepreneurs whose proposals align with the tourist profile.

Miguel Ángel Zenteno detailed that the complex, which was remodeled in 2024, consists of 18 commercial spaces, in addition to public bathrooms, a security booth, and a chapel, all designed to ensure comfort and safety for both tourists and the community.

The call for vendors is open to any citizen and is not restricted to residents of Puerto Juárez, thereby encouraging a diversity of participants to enrich the market's offerings. This inclusivity seeks to generate employment and stimulate the local economy, aligning with municipal development plans.
