Sheinbaum Plans Tulum Regulation with Local Authorities

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum during infrastructure and environmental protection supervision in Quintana Roo

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reaffirmed her commitment to coordinate efforts with local authorities to implement a territorial planning plan in Tulum, an area facing rapid development driven by strategic projects such as the new international airport.

Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama, recognized for her closeness to citizens, has led successful initiatives such as opening beach access and days with free entry to parks, achieving easier coexistence between residents and tourists.

The federal administration and state government are working to update urban planning and prevent negative environmental impacts, guaranteeing orderly growth that respects the destination’s natural resources.

In a broader context, Sheinbaum is taking advantage of her tour through Yucatán and Quintana Roo to supervise progress on key works such as the Maya Train and review regulations in heritage spaces, where she announced measures to avoid irregular charges and strengthen the protection of historical sites.

Additionally, she highlighted the importance of the freight train in reducing logistical costs at the regional level, with potential benefits in fuel prices and the local economy.

The commitment to sustainable management seeks to position Tulum and its surrounding areas as examples of balanced development and environmental protection in the country.
