Playa Food Week Joins a Busy October for Playa del Carmen Restaurants

Playa Food Festival 2026

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A second restaurant promotion is coming to Playa del Carmen this month, adding a weeklong campaign to support local dining businesses while the separate Playa Spice program is already underway.

Playa Food Week will run October 12–18, organized by the Asociación de Gastronómicos PDC under the theme “More than food… a brighter city.” The campaign encourages residents and visitors to dine at participating establishments throughout Playa del Carmen, with the broader goal of generating business for the city’s restaurant sector.

The timing puts Playa Food Week directly in the middle of Playa Spice 2026, which began October 1 and continues through November 15. Despite their similar objectives and overlapping dates, the two promotions are separate initiatives organized by different restaurant associations.

Playa Food Week 2026

Playa Food Week is an initiative of the Asociación de Gastronómicos PDC and is considerably shorter, concentrating its promotion into seven days. Its campaign is built around the messages “Eat, Enjoy, Support Our City” and “More than food… a brighter city,” emphasizing the economic connection between dining out and supporting local businesses.

The organizers are directing diners to a participating-business directory rather than holding the event at a central location. Restaurants and other participating establishments will operate from their regular locations during the October 12–18 promotion.

The promotional material released so far does not indicate a single fixed-price menu or standard discount applying to every participant. Offers are expected to depend on the individual business, making Playa Food Week closer to a citywide restaurant promotion than a traditional food festival.

The arrival of two restaurant campaigns in the same month also reflects a larger push to strengthen Playa del Carmen’s identity as a culinary destination. Municipal tourism officials have increasingly incorporated gastronomy into the city’s tourism calendar, supporting food festivals and other events intended to showcase local restaurants, chefs and producers while generating additional spending outside the peak winter season.

For Playa’s restaurant industry, October falls during an important transition period. Summer vacation traffic has ended, while the larger influx of winter visitors has yet to arrive. Promotions aimed at local residents and regional visitors can help generate additional business during that gap.

Playa Food Week will overlap with Playa Spice for seven days beginning October 12, giving Playa del Carmen two separate restaurant promotions running simultaneously.

Playa Food Week runs October 12–18, while Playa Spice continues through November 15. Both programs take place at participating businesses rather than at a central festival venue.
