Playa del Carmen Residents Protest for Second Night Over Power Outages

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Residents in several parts of Playa del Carmen took to the streets for a second consecutive night Tuesday to protest recurring power outages that have left neighborhoods without electricity.

Demonstrators blocked key traffic points, including the Arco Vial and the intersection of Constituyentes Avenue and 115 Avenue, causing disruptions for drivers trying to move around the city.

Residents said power had been restored in the early hours of the morning after the previous night’s protests, but the service went out again, prompting them to resume demonstrations until authorities address the problem.

The prolonged blackouts have frustrated families and residents, who say the interruptions disrupt daily activities and raise concerns that outages will continue through the night. Protests remained active for a second day as residents demanded the utility company restore service and prevent further blackouts.
