Playa del Carmen, Q. Roo — In an effort to strengthen international cooperation and the tourism profile of Playa del Carmen, municipal authorities met with 16 consular representatives in Quintana Roo. On behalf of Municipal President Estefanía Mercado, the Secretary General of the City Council, Luis Herrera, highlighted the importance of consolidating collaboration with the consulates.
He spoke in favor of working in a coordinated manner on security, economic development, health, environment, and tourism to guarantee a safe and prosperous environment for international visitors.
The meeting saw the participation of more than 60 guests, including municipal authorities and representatives from 16 consulates, gathered in the Leona Vicario hall of the new municipal palace.
The Secretary of Citizen Security, Carlos Montesinos García, presented the comprehensive security strategies and mental health prevention initiatives being implemented. In turn, the Director of Tourism Promotion, Daniel Bellamy, also outlined the fundamental actions that help position this destination as one of the best in the world.
In his remarks, the Director of National and International Affairs, Héctor Fernando Andrade Azueta, highlighted the relevance of maintaining constant dialogue with the consulates to guarantee coordination in matters of security, economic development, health, and tourism promotion.
The meeting concluded with a space for constructive dialogue and a commitment to continue strengthening diplomatic relations and strategic collaboration between the municipality and the consulates.
Also present at the meeting were the heads of Municipal Health, José Antonio Uribe; Economic Development and Investment Attraction, Antón Bojórquez; Public Services, Julieta Martín Azueta; and the DIF system, Rolando Jesús Rodríguez, among other public servants.
