Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Municipal President Estefanía Mercado and Grupo Xcaret, represented by Carlos Constandse, signed a collaboration agreement this Monday with the objective of bringing tourism and the destination's cultural wealth closer to the families of Playa del Carmen.
During the event, Mayor Mercado highlighted that this alliance seeks to ensure that tourism is not a privilege, but a shared opportunity, fostering inclusion, family coexistence, and the emotional well-being of the community.
“Behind every benefit of this agreement, there is a child, a mother, a grandparent who will get to know the natural and cultural richness of their land,” she stated.
She explained that the agreement stipulates that 1,572 residents of Playa del Carmen will be able to access the emblematic parks of Grupo Xcaret with discounts exceeding 94 percent of the real value of the tickets, which represents a direct support of more than six million pesos.
Furthermore, she emphasized that this collaboration generates a positive economic and touristic impact, strengthening the local economy and pride in the destination.
Estefanía Mercado acknowledged the historic collaboration of Grupo Xcaret with Playa del Carmen and underlined that the alliance between the private sector and the municipal government represents a model where “the people who win are the residents, Playa del Carmen wins, and the destination wins.”
From the “Javier Rojo Gómez” hall in the old Municipal Palace, Carlos Constandse, representative of Grupo Xcaret, highlighted the company's philosophy of “shared prosperity” and recalled that this type of initiative allows the local community to get to know and enjoy the natural richness of Quintana Roo.
“We consider it important that not only tourists can appreciate the wonders of our state,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Secretary of Tourism, Estefanía Hernández, stated that since the beginning of Estefanía Mercado's government, they have sought to strengthen ties with socially responsible companies to build a more inclusive and humane tourism sector.
“This agreement is finalized after months of joint work, establishing promotion campaigns and prioritizing social tourism so that our people can enjoy the touristic success of the destination,” she added.
With this alliance, the Playa del Carmen City Council and Grupo Xcaret seek to strengthen the brand of Ciudad Playa del Carmen as an inclusive tourist destination, combining economic development with social well-being and equitable access for all inhabitants.
