Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Playa del Carmen will host the Southern Zone Regional Motocross Championship on December 6 and 7, bringing together over 100 motorcycle enthusiasts from various parts of the country.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the José Quiam Chan track, with an expected attendance of approximately 3,000 spectators.
Raúl Ernesto Méndez Briceño, president of the Marlins de la Riviera Maya club, detailed that 28 local riders from Playa del Carmen will participate, with the rest being competitors from different states in Mexico and some guests from Texas.
He noted that this championship will feature 11 categories, including children, women, and senior riders.
Méndez Briceño emphasized that the championship is endorsed by the Mexican Motorcycling Federation, which decided to hold the tournament in Playa del Carmen.
Regarding his club, Méndez Briceño highlighted the efforts the group is making to train new local talents who aspire to compete at the national level.
In that sense, he said that the Playa del Carmen members of the Marlins club are among the favorites to win the southern zone championship, as they are currently leaders of the circuit.
Alejandra Rivadeneira is the champion in the Junior Women’s category; Alex Arceo in MX 1; Emir Jair Rodríguez in the 50cc category; Dilan Tonche in the 50cc Junior category; and Daniel Rangel in MX 2.
“Playa del Carmen is a powerhouse in motocross and we are in the top positions at the regional level,” he declared.
Finally, Méndez Briceño maintained that motocross is an extremely important tool that promotes values and keeps youth away from social problems, so he called on the public to attend this competition.
