Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Jesús Rodríguez, director of the Playa del Carmen DIF (Integral Family Development System), announced that the Children’s Rehabilitation Center (CRIM) is planning to expand its infrastructure over the next two years to meet the high demand for its services.
In a brief interview, the municipal official acknowledged that in recent years, staff at the CRIM facility in the Bellavista neighborhood have been forced to “do more with less” due to the significant demand the center has experienced.
He stated that plans are underway to expand the infrastructure and repair various pieces of equipment, including a therapy tub, which requires a budget of between six and seven million pesos.
Rodríguez clarified that the rehabilitation of that tub was not completed in 2025 because the funds received by the DIF this year were used to expand other services and the facilities themselves.
He indicated that the expansion and rehabilitation of CRIM spaces are part of a project he hopes to complete before the end of the current administration.
Rodríguez emphasized that at this moment, the DIF’s main task is to provide more services to the population.
He stressed that demand has been high, noting that in the last quarter of 2025 alone, the CRIM has already served more than 3,200 minors, which he said represents “the great challenge they face for the coming year given this population growth and demand for services.”
