Playa del Carmen police raid previously seized property

Police operation at a property in Colonia Ejido, Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A previously seized property in Colonia Ejido was intervened again by authorities, generating attention among residents of the area.

The operation is taking place on Calle 4, between Avenidas 130 and 125, where elements of the Investigation Police, in coordination with other agencies, entered the property that remains under ministerial custody. During the operation, the exit of at least three people was observed, who were transported as detainees.

This location had already been seized since January 10, when authorities conducted an operation in which at least 20 people who were allegedly victims of trafficking and prostitution were rescued. According to information confirmed at the time, 17 of the rescued people were Mexican nationals, while three were foreigners: two Cubans and one Venezuelan.

After that operation, the property was officially closed, with visible seizure seals placed by the State Attorney General’s Office. However, this new police deployment suggests that the place may have been occupied or intervened irregularly again, a situation that is now being investigated by the authorities.

So far, the Attorney General’s Office has not issued official information about the specific reason for this new operation or about the legal situation of the detained people. It is expected that in the coming hours details will be expanded to determine whether the arrests are related to the human trafficking case or other possible crimes.

The area remains with police presence while the corresponding investigations continue.
