Playa del Carmen Announces Second ‘Desayuno Rosa’ Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Prevention

Attendees at a pink-themed breast cancer awareness breakfast fundraiser in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The city’s Municipal Youth Institute, the group Juntos por Playa del Carmen and the foundation Un Grano de Arena por Mujer will hold the second edition of the Desayuno Rosa fundraiser on October 25 at 9:00 a.m. at the Matiz de Amor restaurant.

The event aims to promote breast cancer prevention and early detection while raising money for a cancer patient in a vulnerable situation.

Tickets cost 600 pesos and organizers hope to draw 100 attendees. Part of the proceeds will cover event costs, with the remainder going to the foundation to support a young single mother receiving breast cancer treatment in Campeche.

At a press conference, Municipal Youth Institute director José Gabriel Pérez Álvarez highlighted the involvement of young people and civil organizations in community benefit efforts. Also taking part were Oriana Rojas Petit, representing Juntos por Playa del Carmen, and foundation president Frida Angélica Venegas.

The foundation runs programs offering accompaniment, free mammograms and ultrasounds, and the delivery of breast prostheses. This October, six women in Playa del Carmen will receive prostheses.

The first edition of the Desayuno Rosa raised 18,000 pesos to support cancer patients.
