Mahahual, QR — The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) has imposed a total temporary closure on the works and activities of the Perfect Day Mahahual project, located in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, due to its lack of federal authorization for environmental impact.
The measure was determined after documentation revealed filling and compaction work on a rustic road within a coastal vegetation zone with low jungle and mangrove presence, as well as demolition and debris collection activities, without the corresponding permits. The affected area covers approximately 17,115 square meters.
Total Suspension for Perfect Day Mahahual
In response to a citizen complaint, federal inspectors conducted an inspection visit on January 28 on properties located in Mahahual, where they confirmed the execution of works linked to the project previously known as “Destino Mahahual” and currently called Perfect Day Mahahual.
During the inspection, it was verified that the site continued with infrastructure dismantling, demolition, and construction waste management work without having the environmental authorization issued by the competent federal authority.
Given the irregularities detected, Profepa applied the temporary closure of all activities related to Perfect Day Mahahual as a security measure, in accordance with current environmental legislation.
Prosecutor Mariana Boy Tamborrell emphasized that environmental impact authorization is an indispensable requirement for any work that could generate effects on ecosystems, especially in coastal areas, and assured that surveillance will be maintained over developments like Perfect Day Mahahual to prevent environmental damage.
The inspection concluded on January 29 and the corresponding administrative procedure was initiated, which will continue according to the deadlines established by law.
Profepa reported that during the current administration, inspection actions in coastal ecosystems of Quintana Roo have been reinforced, resulting in the closure and application of corrective measures to various projects operating without authorization, including Perfect Day Mahahual.
