Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman lost her life in an armed attack on Friday afternoon in the Palmas II neighborhood of Playa del Carmen, prompting an immediate deployment of security forces to the area.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Palmas Silvestre Street and Palmas II Boulevard. At the time of the attack, the victim was inside a vehicle accompanied by a minor, who fortunately did not sustain physical injuries.
Initial reports indicate that the event took place in front of a residence identified as a suspected point of sale for illicit substances, leading authorities to consider this situation as one of the main lines of investigation to determine the motive behind the execution.
Municipal and State Police agents, along with emergency medical personnel, arrived at the scene and determined that the woman had already died from the impacts received.
Forensic experts from the prosecutor’s office and investigative personnel proceeded to cordon off the area for ballistic evidence collection and the initiation of corresponding inquiries.
With this incident, nine executions have been recorded so far this year in this municipality. Despite search operations, there is no report of any arrests made for this crime.
