Chetumal, MX – Reiterating that Senator Mayuli Martínez does not have the gubernatorial candidacy secured, the state leader of the PAN, Reyna Tamayo Carballo, insisted that the party aims to be competitive for the 2027 election with proposals emerging from citizens who show true commitment to the principles of Acción Nacional.
She recalled that, following the relaunch of the PAN, they opened a portal for citizens themselves to propose as candidates for various elected positions, with the National Executive Committee issuing a report on citizen registrations every 17th of the month.
“The PAN has given much to talk about since the relaunch because we have set out to do territorial work, to be closer to the people, which is what citizens ask for, and that will help us achieve good results,” she stated.
She assured that there is no fear in the PAN regarding the upcoming elections; on the contrary, they are focused on maintaining that territorial presence, and the nomination of candidates emerging from the citizens themselves will yield good results.
When questioned about whether they have recovered from the damage caused by Carlos Joaquín’s tenure as governor, Tamayo Carballo reiterated that his candidacy and subsequent administration as head of the executive were the result of an alliance and not specifically from panismo.
“Today the PAN has a commitment to the citizens, who should propose themselves to hold elected positions,” she reiterated.
Furthermore, the PAN leader insisted that Mayuli Martínez does not have the gubernatorial candidacy secured, as Senator Ernesto Sánchez has also appeared in polls for that nomination due to his work in the territory.
She clarified that while Mayuli Martínez has done work in the Senate, they cannot dismiss the presence Ernesto Sánchez has had in the territory “because he did not just arrive at the Senate; that has allowed him to appear in the polls.”
“At this moment, we cannot say there is a defined male or female candidate for the governorship because citizens will choose the candidates through polls,” she indicated.
