Mérida, Yucatán — In support of the commercial sector and to boost the local economy during one of the most important weekends of the year, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena made the first purchase of Buen Fin 2025 at a store of Yucatecan origin located in Gran Plaza, one of the most representative shopping centers in Mérida with more than 30 years of history.

Prior to buying a shirt as his first purchase, the Governor explained that during this weekend of sales and offers, more than 51,000 companies from the Yucatecan commercial sector—from small businesses to established companies—are participating. These businesses form an essential part of the economy and sustain the income of thousands of families.

"Commerce generates employment for more than 229,000 people, which represents almost a fifth of the occupied population in the state. That is why it is so important to accompany them at this start, because behind every open store there are families that depend on these events functioning well and on consumption moving with order, security, and fair prices," he stated.

The state leader added that the State Government is joining the Buen Fin by advancing the 25% of the Christmas bonus to the workers of the Executive Branch. He also reminded that during these days, discounts—in some cases of up to 100%—will be applied on fines, surcharges, and payments for procedures and services in agencies such as the State Housing Institute and the Water Board, among others.

"We also invite you to visit the Herencia Viva Yucatán website, where you can find local products made by our entrepreneurial artisans, thus supporting the talent and effort of our people. I thank the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism of Mérida, especially its president, José Enrique Molina Casares, and the entire business sector for the coordinated work to ensure this event is carried out with responsibility and order," he indicated.

Likewise, the Governor recognized the joint work with the Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco); the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef); the Tax Administration Service (SAT); the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) and the administration of Gran Plaza, institutions that are participating in this operation to guarantee a safe experience for thousands of shoppers.

Furthermore, he thanked the permanent support of the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, whose backing of Yucatán's economic activity, he said, allows the state to continue promoting more investments and job opportunities.

"We will begin this tour with spirit, with accompaniment, and with the certainty that the Buen Fin will be a boost for our local economy. I will now look for a Yucatecan store to give advantage to local entrepreneurs," he stated.

For his part, the president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism of Mérida, José Enrique Molina Casares, thanked the Governor for his presence at this kickoff, highlighting that the Buen Fin is celebrating 15 years of being held in Yucatán and represents a key date for the sector.

"This year we will hold it for five days. We begin today and will end on November 17. The approximate economic impact will be 8,600 million pesos, generated by more than 15,000 companies throughout the state," he detailed.

Accompanying the Governor during this event were the president of the Gran Plaza Condominium Vigilance Committee, Javier Enrique Evia Góngora; the president of the Business Coordinating Council and of the Canirac Yucatán Delegation, Claudia González Góngora; the presiding magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of Yucatán, Erika Torres López; the president of the Governing Board of the local Congress, Wilmer Monforte Marfil; the regional delegate of Condusef, Alberto Pinto Escamilla, and the inspector general of the Secretary of Public Security, Jesús Feliciano Novelo Chan.

Also present were the delegate of Profeco in Yucatán, Víctor Cervera Hernández; the state director of Mérida Fonacot, Alfonso Miguel Tomasini Ancona; the secretary of the Mérida City Council, Edgar Ramírez Pech; the representative of the Secretary of Tourism Development, Elizabeth Pool Guerrero; the Gran Plaza collaborator, Cintia Paola Rincón Sánchez; the director of the Mérida Municipal Police, Commissioner Rafael Cháirez Cuevas, and the Undersecretary of Economy and Labor, Alberto del Río Leal.
