50 Families Evicted in Playa Del Carmen Land Scam

More than 50 families, who are believed to have been victims of fraud, were evicted from state-owned land in the Nicte-Ha district of Playa Del Carmen. The eviction took place around midday, leading to a significant mobilization at the end of 20 de Noviembre avenue, in the city's industrial area.

The evicted families claimed that they had started making payments for the land they were occupying, unaware that it was state-owned. Some of them reported having paid up to 20,000 pesos to a person who had falsely claimed to be the land's owner.

Local residents stated that the land was originally intended for industrial use but had been gradually occupied by individuals over time. The eviction operation was conducted by members of the State Prosecutor's Office and the Municipal Police. There were no reports of confrontations during the eviction.
