Cozumel, MX — With an investment exceeding 32.4 million pesos from the Trust for the Well-being of Quintana Roo Cruise Tourism, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa led the ceremonial start of the rehabilitation of Cozumel's main downtown tourist streets using the highest quality hydraulic concrete.

Accompanied by Municipal President José Luis Chacón Méndez, the head of the state executive highlighted that this project, which is being carried out through the SEOP led by José Rafael Lara Diaz, will improve mobility, security, and the quality of life for thousands of Cozumel families.

Mara Lezama specified that the Trust was created in collaboration with cruise line companies to close inequality gaps with projects that benefit Cozumel and Mahahual, the first and second most important cruise destinations in the country.

This collaboration, she added, reflects the essence of the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, through which joint actions between the government and the private sector are promoted to improve urban infrastructure and strengthen the local economy for the well-being of the people.

Furthermore, during the event, Mara Lezama stated that it represents shared prosperity: "using resources from the tourism industry to modernize public infrastructure, strengthen the local economy, and beautify the urban image of our tourist destinations."

The Governor emphasized that every rehabilitated street represents safety for girls and boys, as well as peace of mind for those who travel and work daily in the city center.

Work will be carried out on 13,615 square meters of the island's tourist streets with 15-centimeter-thick hydraulic pavement; 7,158 linear meters of horizontal signage using thermoplastic paint and microspheres on pavements and pedestrian crossings will be applied, and 34 vertical signs will be installed.

"In Cozumel, we are writing a new history; we are a humanist government with a feminist heart, that listens to the voice of the people and delivers," affirmed Mara Lezama, reiterating the work in the territory, 24/7, united to transform.

The head of the State Water and Sewer Commission (CAPA), Hugo Garza Sáenz, was present.
