Major turnout for CONADE race in Playa del Carmen

Participants running in the Ponte Pila CONADE race on Quinta Avenida in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — With significant attendance of 1,100 runners, the Ponte Pila CONADE race was successfully held in Playa del Carmen. This recreational event is part of the national strategy for the Construction of Peace and Transformation of Sport in Mexico.

The race was promoted by the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE), headed by Rommel Pacheco, and was organized in Quintana Roo under the coordination of the Sports Commission (CODEQ), presided over by Jacobo Arzate Hop.

As outlined in the New Agreement for Well-being and Development, promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, the initiative prioritizes sport as a key action for the recovery of the social fabric and adds to the public policies led by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Jacobo Arzate led the competition and highlighted the citizens’ response.

“We thank you for taking this time. What better way to start the day than with a 5-kilometer race and a spectacular view. Enjoy this competition that places Quintana Roo as one of the states that remains firm in the transformation of our country,” emphasized the head of CODEQ, who also thanked CONADE’s support for holding the activity free of charge.

The participants received a commemorative t-shirt and completed a 5-kilometer route along the iconic Quinta Avenida, with the starting and finishing point beside the emblematic Portal Maya.

This competition was held simultaneously across the country. In the case of Quintana Roo, CODEQ worked hand in hand with the Playa del Carmen Sports Institute, directed by Alberto “Beto” López, to ensure the proper organization of the event and reaffirm the commitment to promote well-being through physical activation.
