Bacalar, Quintana Roo — The community of Cedralito expressed outrage this afternoon after residents reported to municipal security authorities that an individual had shot a dog named Chocolate, inflicting serious injuries.
Municipal officers responded to the neighbors' call and transported the canine to the nearest veterinary clinic. The dog was later reported to be in stable condition; however, it has minimal chances of walking again due to severe damage to both of its hind legs caused by the injuries.
The incident generated significant anger among the neighbors who reported the aggression. They asserted that this is not the first time the aggressor has committed such acts against animals in the area, alleging he had previously attacked and killed at least two more stray dogs.
According to witnesses, the alleged cause of the attack was that Chocolate tried to steal a bag of bread.
Authorities ultimately identified the responsible individual. A formal complaint was filed by the neighbors to initiate an investigation and impose corresponding sanctions for this incident.
