Newborn Found in Cancún Neighborhood, Rescued by Local

Cancún, Mexico — A newborn infant was located in the Tres Reyes neighborhood during the early hours of Wednesday and was urgently admitted to the General Hospital "Jesús Kumate Rodríguez" in Cancún.

According to the official report, personnel from the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit responded to the hospital after being notified of the minor's admission.

The hospital's Social Work area detailed that a citizen brought the baby, who was only hours old, to the emergency service, stating that she had rescued the infant after hearing its cries.

Medical personnel reported that the newborn is under observation to receive a comprehensive assessment and the necessary clinical follow-up.

In response to this case, the Benito Juárez DIF System, through the Office for the Protection of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents, has taken action, implementing corresponding measures to ensure the protection and care of the minor, in compliance with the best interests of the child.

Municipal authorities assured that coordination between DIF, the General Hospital, and the Secretariat of Security will continue to guarantee the child's well-being. The Benito Juárez DIF will maintain vigilance over the case to ensure all actions prioritize respect for the minor's rights.
