Cancún, Quintana Roo — The lifeless body of an unidentified man was discovered naked in a pool of water early yesterday morning in Supermanzana 66, an area known for clandestine meeting houses. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of death.

Discovery and Initial Response

Residents alerted emergency services at approximately 6:30 a.m. after spotting the unclothed man lying face down on Calle 18, between Calles 7 and 9. Municipal police from the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) arrived shortly thereafter, confirming the victim showed no visible signs of violence. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, noting he had likely been deceased for several hours due to the onset of rigor mortis.

Forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office cordoned off the area with yellow tape and transported the body to the Medical Forensic Service for an autopsy. Investigators emphasized that the absence of clothing and apparent lack of injuries complicated initial assessments.

Witness Accounts

Neighbors identified the deceased as a local bus washer employed at a second-class bus terminal in El Crucero, servicing routes to Chiapas and Tabasco. They expressed confusion over his nudity and noted he frequently wandered the streets alone, with no known relatives in the city.

Pending Investigation

The case remains under investigation, with authorities awaiting autopsy results to confirm whether foul play was involved. If evidence of violence emerges, the Ministerial Police will open a formal inquiry.

This marks the latest in a series of recent discoveries of unclaimed bodies in Cancún, including:

  • A woman found dead in a dirt road in Colonia Paraíso (June 24).
  • A man with gunshot wounds and a broken leg in Región 241 (June 17).
  • A young man who allegedly slipped and died while returning from a beer run in SM 64 (June 13).

Authorities have not indicated whether these cases are connected.
