Cancún, Mexico — A motorcyclist died Sunday morning after losing control and skidding on Kukulcán Boulevard in Cancún’s hotel zone, authorities reported.
The accident occurred around 11:25 a.m. near Plaza Caracol at kilometer 8.5 of the boulevard. Emergency services received a 911 call reporting a seriously injured motorcyclist lying on the roadway.
Tourist Police officers were first to arrive at the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent further incidents and facilitate emergency response.
Private paramedics provided pre-hospital care but confirmed the motorcyclist showed no vital signs and declared him dead at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates the driver was reportedly Cuban and was traveling toward Plaza La Isla when he lost control while taking the curve near Plaza Caracol. The skid caused injuries that proved fatal almost instantly.
The accident prompted authorities to partially close the uphill lane of Kukulcán Boulevard for approximately one hour, causing significant traffic congestion in the high-traffic tourist area. State Prosecutor’s Office personnel conducted an investigation and removed the body for transfer to the Forensic Medical Service.
