Morena Leaders Deny Rumors of Andrés Manuel López Obrador Hospitalization

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, former president of Mexico and founder of Morena

Mexico City — Leaders of Mexico’s Morena party have denied rumors circulating on social media that former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador was hospitalized over the weekend. Party officials called the claims false and said the ex-president is in stable health.

Ignacio Mier, Morena’s coordinator in the Senate, posted on X that reports of López Obrador being admitted to the Military Central Hospital for a heart condition were “absolutely false.” He urged people to reject what he called fake news.

The rumors emerged after Morena’s National Council meeting on Saturday, sparking concern among supporters. Other party leaders present at the gathering confirmed they had no information about any recent medical issues affecting López Obrador.

Claudia Sheinbaum, Morena’s president, also said she was unaware of any hospitalization. Party authorities emphasized the need to verify information before sharing it online.
