Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — A mobile service brigade in this Riviera Maya municipality has highlighted residents’ lack of consistent access to basic services, with over 300 people from various neighborhoods turning out for medical check-ups, document processing, and food aid.
The event, held at the Zetina Gasca neighborhood sports dome, provided 322 direct services. This seventh such brigade has now benefited over 1,200 people cumulatively.
Attendees said the high turnout reflects that these services are not continuously available in their communities. They must wait for temporary mobile events to access medical consultations, vaccinations, physical therapy, guidance on domestic violence, and help with official documents.
The brigade also distributed basic food basket items, clothing, school supplies, processed military service cards and civil registry documents, and provided rabies vaccinations for pets.
Residents noted that concentrating these services in one location saves them transportation costs and time, particularly for families living in remote areas or without the resources to travel to multiple government offices.
The attendance of entire families showed that the highest demand remains in health, documentation, and basic support—needs that locals say remain unresolved on a permanent basis in their communities.
Several attendees agreed that these mobile events have become their only alternative for completing official paperwork, receiving medical care, or accessing support programs without straining their finances.
The brigade also offered animal welfare check-ups and guidance for youth and children, services used primarily by those who said they lack nearby access to these areas of support.
