Thailand — Raúl Rocha Cantú, the president of the Miss Universe organization, has announced that Nawat Itsaragrisil has been removed from this year’s beauty pageant following his insult of Mexican model Fátima Bosch.

In a video released through Miss Universe’s official social media channels, Rocha criticized the incident, stating that “Nawat has forgotten the meaning of being a true host” in the context of the event’s organization in Thailand this year.

Rocha Cantú pledged that none of the 122 women gathered in Thailand would be attacked or humiliated, “as many of them have managed to reach this platform of visibility and voice precisely by trying to overcome situations like these.”

“I want to make clear my great indignation and repudiation of Nawat for the aggression he made to the public against Fátima Bosch, Miss Universe Mexico, whom he humiliated, insulted, and disrespected, in addition to highlighting the great abuse of calling security to intimidate a defenseless woman, trying to silence and exclude her. Enough, Nawat!” he stated.

Miss Universe 2025: Sash Placement Event Postponed and Nawat ‘Removed’

Rocha revealed that he gave the instruction to postpone the sash placement event, where the aggression occurred, “precisely to avoid interaction with Nawat,” whom he characterized as having a desire to “always be the center of attention.”

Given this situation, Rocha revealed that Nawat has been sidelined from the event: “I have conditioned Nawat’s participation in the events that are part of the 74th Miss Universe pageant so that it is limited or non-existent.”

He also announced that a statement would be released detailing “all the corporate and legal actions” stemming from “the series of malicious acts committed by Nawat.”

The matter does not end there. Contact was made with a group of executives and specialists headed by Ronald Day and Mario Bucaro, who will travel immediately to Thailand to take control of the gathering of women and the event, which had been under the management of Miss Grand International (MGI) and the direction of Nawat Itsaragrisil.

“The delegates from all countries have my absolute and unconditional support,” he expressed. “None should allow events like these to happen to them in life, no matter who they come from, because no one is better than anyone else.”

The executive recalled that “the values of respect and dignity for women are non-negotiable” and made it clear on behalf of the organization that they differ “emphatically from MGI.”

“Miss Universe is a platform for the empowerment of women and for their voices to be heard in the world,” he described. “Always feel proud and walk with your heads held high, making your ideals and life goals valid, and let no one stop you,” he urged the participants.

What Happened Between Nawat and Fátima Bosch?

The scandal broke out after the director of Miss Universe Thailand insulted the Mexican contestant Fátima Bosch. “What his director did was not respectful; he called me stupid because he has problems with my organization, and that is not fair, because I am here, doing everything correctly,” said the contestant from Tabasco after being expelled from the room by the Thai director.

After kicking Fátima Bosch out of the Miss Universe 2025 room, Nawat apologized for the insult: “If anyone was affected, I apologize to everyone. But I already spoke and apologized to the rest of the girls in the room; there were about 75 people in the room.”
