Cancun, Quintana Roo — Mexico’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) has opened a public consultation period for a proposed residential development called “Grand Arbolada” in Cancun’s Alfredo V. Bonfil neighborhood.
The project would be located in polygon 1-11, block 01, superblock 347. Semarnat announced it will make the environmental impact statement available for public review from March 13 to April 14, 2026, allowing interested parties to propose additional prevention and mitigation measures or submit relevant observations.
Officials said they will incorporate public comments into the official record and include them in the final resolution. People can submit feedback through Semarnat’s online portal at https://www.semarnat.gob.mx/gobmx/transparencia/consultas.html, at Semarnat’s local office, or by certified mail to the General Directorate of Environmental Impact and Risk in Mexico City.
The Grand Arbolada project involves subdividing and developing a property on Huayacán Avenue in Supermanzana 347. The development would primarily feature single-family residential lots, with some mixed-use commercial lots and condominium parcels for apartment buildings.
According to Cancun’s 2022 Urban Development Program, the site could accommodate up to 80 housing units per hectare, equivalent to 3,931 total units. The proposed subdivision includes 1,753 lots divided into four categories: single-family residential (HU), multi-family residential (H1M), mixed-use commercial (MCp), and neighborhood mixed-use (MB).
