Mahahual, Quintana Roo – Elements of the Mexican Navy assisted three people who were left adrift after the boat they were traveling in capsized off the coast of Mahahual, in southern Quintana Roo.
According to a statement issued by the Eleventh Naval Zone, the incident occurred approximately one nautical mile from the port, where two tourists of U.S. nationality and the boat’s captain requested support following the maritime mishap. The alert was attended to by specialized search and rescue operations personnel based in Chetumal.
Immediately, a maritime unit with trained personnel was deployed to the indicated point, successfully locating the crew members and transporting them safely to shore. Once at port, the rescued individuals were evaluated by naval medical personnel, confirming that none had serious injuries.
The Navy reported that this type of action is part of the permanent surveillance and assistance work carried out along the state’s coastline, with the objective of protecting those who engage in recreational or work activities at sea.
Furthermore, it reiterated the call to citizens to report any maritime emergency through official channels, in order to guarantee timely attention in risk situations.
