Mexican Navy Rescues 45 Migrants From Two Yachts Near Ensenada

Ensenada, Baja California — The Mexican Navy rescued 45 people who were allegedly being smuggled into the United States aboard two vessels near Ensenada, Baja California, the Navy Secretariat announced.

Officials said the operation followed intelligence work and was carried out during a routine maritime surveillance patrol. Naval personnel intercepted two yacht-type vessels carrying 45 Mexican nationals — 41 men, one woman and three minors.

Authorities also found roughly 1,850 liters of diesel fuel stored in 23 drums aboard the vessels. Both boats and everyone on board were taken to port.

The Navy Secretariat said the rescued passengers were handed over to the appropriate authorities for processing.
