Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Mayor Yensunni Martínez of Othón P. Blanco municipality is reportedly preparing to announce two cabinet changes in the coming days, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The reshuffle would see Héctor Pérez Rivero step down as head of the Municipal President’s Office, with Melissa Verduzco Flores, currently part of Governor Mara Lezama’s office, taking his place. Additionally, Luis Gamero Barranco is expected to leave his position as Municipal Secretary General.
These developments come amid social media controversy over rumors that Martínez secretly married her partner, Carlos Cruz, at the Xcaret theme park. In an interview today, the mayor denied those reports, clarifying that she does plan to marry Cruz but only after completing her term as mayor.
The last cabinet change under Martínez occurred in September 2024, when Josué Leonardo Jiménez Herrera became the new treasurer, replacing Miguel Cheluja Martínez, who was appointed head of the Quintana Roo State Superior Audit Office (Aseqroo).
