Bacalar, Quintana Roo — The operation of the Chacchoben–Limones station has come under suspicion after the uncovering of a systematic mistreatment scheme against cleaning staff. Workers directly point to station chief Óscar “N” for exercising authoritarian command, characterized by humiliation and the imposition of workloads that violate their original contracts.
The staff survives in an environment of absolute deprivation, where the lack of basic working materials adds to the contempt of the station chief. According to the complaints, unequal treatment and exploitation have become the norm in this section of the Maya Train, in the face of the indifferent gaze of senior management who have ignored every report for help.
The company Ecodeli is accused of complicity by omission, by allowing Óscar “N” to use dismissal as an extortion tool. Those who speak out or refuse to comply with whims unrelated to their function are immediately terminated with the loss of their job, a tactic of workplace terrorism to maintain silence in the facilities.
Several employees have already been victims of arbitrary dismissals, confirming that the position of authority at this station is used for personal revenge. This “cleaning” of critical personnel has made it clear that, in this government project, worker dignity is secondary to the power of unscrupulous middle managers.
The affected parties urge an immediate labor audit to stop the harassment and punish those responsible. They demand that the emblematic project not be a refuge for abusers and that the station administration be cleaned up, guaranteeing that the right to work does not include submission to constant abuse and threats.
Workers Denounce Maya Train Manager in Chetumal for Harassment and Abuse of Authority
Workers at the Maya Train station in Chetumal publicly denounced station manager David L. F., a retired Army major, for alleged cases of sexual and workplace harassment, stating that several female employees have been victims of inappropriate conduct, while other workers suffer degrading and authoritarian treatment.
The affected parties stated that more than 20 complaints have been filed with the project’s general management, without obtaining a response or progress in the investigation. This lack of attention has generated suspicions of cover-up, as the official would be protected by the authorities.
They indicated that the abuses are not new, as in his previous position at the Maya Train station in Tulum, David L. F. was accused of similar conduct, including hiring women under false pretenses, whom he later conditioned with sexual insinuations. Although a process to disqualify him had been initiated, it was suspended without explanation, allowing his transfer to Chetumal.
Given the omission by the project authorities, the workers have warned that they will take their complaints to the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office and the National Human Rights Commission, in order to demand justice and stop the abuses that, they claim, continue to affect the work environment at one of the main Maya Train terminals.
Harassment and Nepotism Denounced at Maya Train Station in Felipe Carrillo Puerto
Employees and former workers of the Maya Train in Felipe Carrillo Puerto denounced workplace harassment by the station chief, Jaime David Silva García and his close collaborators, also accusing them of nepotism.
In their complaint, the staff holds Silva García, who is a retired major of the Mexican Army, responsible for threatening and treating them humiliatingly, creating a toxic work environment. Additionally, they accuse him of benefiting relatives and friends, placing them in positions whenever there is a vacancy at that station.
According to what has been made public by several of the aggrieved parties, the station chief even issued direct orders to his team to harass a group of female employees. Even the station supervisor, Antonio Pool, confessed to receiving instructions to “control” and “look for the smallest mistake” in order to pressure them to resign.
The target of that harassment was mainly the ticket sellers, because they were uncomfortable for the official and questioned being forced to “voluntarily” contribute to buy objects necessary to perform their functions and to decorate the station.
As a result of this situation, at least three female employees have already submitted their resignations, as one of them claims to fear for her personal safety due to such harassment.
The employees have expressed feeling in a condition of total lack of protection, as any of their complaints ends up back on the desk of station chief Silva García, since he has taken care to place close associates in key positions, giving him total control over what happens there.
Thanks to the chief’s consent, employees from his inner circle have also been able to place their relatives in positions whenever openings are announced. Such is the case of the heads of Human Resources and Customer Service, which violates the company’s internal regulations, which require hiring processes to be conducted impartially and to “verify that there are no kinship relationships” with those in command positions.
As a recourse against the state of defenselessness felt by the employees, they decided to make their complaint public.
