Civic-sports parade in Playa del Carmen for 115th anniversary of Mexican Revolution

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Municipal President Estefanía Mercado led the civic-sports parade on Thursday for the 115th anniversary of the start of the Mexican Revolution, accompanied by civil, military, naval authorities, and commanders from the Secretariat of Citizen Security.

The event brought together thousands of Playa del Carmen families who gathered from the early morning hours to witness the traditional procession.

Approximately 50 contingents participated in the parade with 7,340 students from all educational levels, employees from institutions and governmental organizations, rescuers, sports clubs, paramedics, and unions.

Along the route, the contingents presented gymnastic routines, sports drills, coordinated numbers, and rescue simulations, which received prolonged applause from the public.

“Today we celebrate the spirit of unity, freedom, and transformation that represents the Mexican Revolution. It fills me with pride to see our girls, boys, and young people participating with such discipline and enthusiasm; they are the force that drives Playa del Carmen forward,” expressed Estefanía Mercado, after recognizing the work of teachers, administrators, and families who accompanied the participants.

According to official estimates, around 10,000 people witnessed the parade, which started at the intersection of Avenida 38 and Calle 10, proceeded along Avenida 30, continued on Avenida Constituyentes, and then along Avenida 20, passing in front of the Municipal Palace, where the Mayor greeted and applauded the passage of each contingent.

In delivering the informational report, Carlos Montesinos, Municipal Secretary of Citizen Security, announced that the route concluded without incidents under a security and civil protection operation deployed to ensure order and mobility.

In addition to representatives of the armed forces, Estefanía Mercado was accompanied by councilors, as well as officials from her cabinet, including the General Secretary of the City Council, Luis Herrera, and the Honorary President of the Municipal DIF, Eduardo Asencio.
