Tulum, Mexico — Alejandro Iván Blanquet García, a 32-year-old man wanted by the Campeche State Attorney General’s Office, is now under investigation in Quintana Roo for his alleged involvement in a femicide in Playa del Carmen. Initially reported as missing in Tulum by his family, authorities confirmed he is actually a fugitive after allegedly stabbing a woman, who later died from her injuries.
Details of the Crime
The incident occurred inside a residence in the Real Bilbao neighborhood. The victim, a 38-year-old woman from Tabasco, sustained a severe neck wound. Paramedics stabilized her and transported her to the IMSS-Bienestar General Hospital, but she died 48 hours later.
Preliminary reports indicate the victim was in a romantic relationship with the suspect, reinforcing the legal classification of the case as femicide under Quintana Roo’s Penal Code.
Ongoing Manhunt
The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation and launched an operation to locate Blanquet García, who last communicated via WhatsApp on June 7, claiming to be in Tulum before cutting off all contact.
A wanted notice issued by the Campeche State Attorney General’s Office and circulated on social media describes the suspect as having a slim build, standing 1.84 meters tall, with light brown skin, an oval face, and a beard. Distinctive features include visible tattoos: a cross on the right side of his neck and several designs—such as a skull, keyboard, seagulls, and musical notes—on his right arm, along with the phrase “negra consentido.”
Public Appeal for Information
The case has sparked outrage in both Campeche and Quintana Roo, where Blanquet García is known for his involvement in the regional music scene. Authorities urge the public to report any information about his whereabouts by calling (981) 81-1-94-00 or contacting official state prosecutor channels.
Officials have reiterated their commitment to pursuing the investigation until the alleged perpetrator is brought to justice, ensuring the case does not go unpunished.
