Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum experienced another night marked by violence. A man identified by the alias “Mono” was attacked with a firearm and sustained two gunshot wounds that left him seriously injured, an incident that mobilized emergency services and caused alarm among residents.
The attack occurred in a residential area of the municipality, where armed individuals opened fire on the victim and then fled to an unknown location. Witnesses called emergency services, and paramedics arrived within minutes. They stabilized the injured man and immediately transferred him to Playa del Carmen due to the severity of his wounds.
No arrests have been reported so far, while authorities maintain a search operation in different parts of the city.
This new armed attack reignited criticism and citizen complaints toward the municipal administration, pointing to its inability to stop the wave of violent incidents that have been recorded in recent months in Tulum.
The State Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation file to clarify the attack and find those responsible.
