Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A judge has sentenced a man to five years in prison for domestic violence against his pregnant ex-partner in this coastal resort city, the State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The conviction came after prosecutors presented sufficient evidence through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Women. The case involved Samuel Atri Yeger, who authorities say committed verbal, physical, and economic abuse against his victim in the Bali neighborhood.
The court determined there was enough evidence to establish the defendant’s criminal responsibility and imposed the prison sentence. Officials said the case strengthens institutional actions against gender-based violence.

In separate proceedings, seven additional individuals have been formally charged with domestic violence offenses across Quintana Roo.
In Benito Juárez, Jerónimo “N” and Carlos Saúl “N” face charges for allegedly assaulting their partners. Jonathan “N” was charged with violence against his mother.
In Playa del Carmen, José Pablo “N” was charged for attacks on his ex-partner, while in Cozumel, Moisés Alfonso “N” will face proceedings for verbal abuse. Claudio “N” and Víctor Hugo “N” were also formally charged.
Additionally, Miguel Antonio “N” and Rodrigo “N” were arrested under court orders and turned over to judicial authorities.
