Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The body of a man was located on Saturday afternoon on the sidewalk of 44th Street, near 30th Avenue, in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood.
Residents passing through the area noticed the individual lying motionless and immediately notified the authorities. Following the emergency call, paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed the man no longer showed any vital signs. The area was subsequently cordoned off by Public Security officers to allow for investigative procedures by the State Attorney General's Office.
A preliminary examination revealed no visible signs of violence.
Witnesses told officers that the deceased was known in the area, as he was often seen on the streets and was apparently homeless, though his identity has not been officially confirmed.
Forensic experts from the Medical Examiner's Service were responsible for the removal of the body and its transfer to their facilities, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
