Chetumal, Mexico — A man approximately 30 years old was executed in the early hours of Saturday on the streets of the El Encanto neighborhood in Chetumal by armed individuals traveling in two unidentified vehicles.
The events occurred around 4:30 in the morning, when a call to the emergency number alerted authorities to a person injured by gunshots on Calle 9, at the corner of Antonio Handall.
Elements of the Quintana Roo Police, in coordination with the Municipal Police, traveled to the location and found a man with serious injuries. They immediately requested the support of an ambulance.
Paramedics from the Rescue Squad and Medical Emergencies Unit (ERUM) arrived at the site and, after examining the victim, confirmed he had four bullet wounds in the right side of his thorax. He was urgently transported to the General Hospital, where hours later he lost his life while receiving medical attention.
At the scene, authorities secured eleven spent shell casings and one bullet projectile, which were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the investigation. The body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service for the corresponding autopsy.
According to initial inquiries, the attack was perpetrated by individuals traveling in two white vehicles. Preliminary testimonies indicate that the victim had allegedly had an argument with his aggressors before being shot.
Police sources indicated that the deceased allegedly had a criminal record for commercial robbery.
Investigations continue to determine the motive for the homicide.
