Cancun, Quintana Roo — A multi-vehicle crash on Boulevard Luis Donaldo Colosio in Cancun caused extensive damage to three vehicles on Saturday morning, though authorities reported no injuries.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on the major thoroughfare, near the C5 command center. According to witnesses, the driver of a taxi from the “Andrés Quintana Roo” union allegedly lost control while heading toward the city center, causing the vehicle to skid and end up facing the wrong direction.
Chain Reaction Leads to Further Collisions
After the taxi skidded, the operator of a Del Valle company bus attempted to brake to avoid a collision. The heavy vehicle also skidded and crashed into the base of a road sign.
Amid the incident, a driver of a tourist transport van heading to pick up passengers at a downtown hotel lost control while trying to avoid the crash, mounting the central median and creating several minutes of traffic chaos.
Despite the severity of the crash, authorities confirmed no injuries were reported, with damage limited to the three vehicles involved.
Vehicles Towed to Impound Lot
Traffic officers arrived at the scene to conduct the necessary investigation and coordinate the removal of the vehicles, which were taken to an impound lot pending determination of responsibility.
The latest accident has sparked social media commentary about road safety on the Boulevard Colosio stretch in Cancun, a site where accidents are frequently reported.
