Mahahual, Quintana Roo — The community of taxi drivers in Mahahual has consolidated its position as the primary mobility service in the region, establishing a formal collaboration with the ambitious Lahun Tiku project, the luxury hotel and real estate development extending across Playa Tikú in southern Quintana Roo.
The union was formalized following a key meeting between the guild's leader and the project's representatives, where vehicle capabilities were analyzed and the integration of drivers into the transportation operation for the tourist complex's visitors was planned.
Strategic Alliance Aims to Integrate Local Transporters
The strategic alliance seeks to integrate local transporters into the growing tourist and real estate development of the Costa Maya, generating economic and employment opportunities.
Lahun Tiku spans an area of more than 200 hectares and plans the construction of approximately one thousand hotel rooms, 300 homes, and commercial spaces, in addition to offering medical and research services. The "barefoot luxury" concept aims to offer exclusive experiences that combine close contact with nature and local cultural roots, promoting high-quality and sustainable tourism.
This large-scale project represents a palpable economic development opportunity for the Mahahual community, as it promises to generate numerous jobs and supply opportunities for residents. The collaboration with local transport operators reflects a comprehensive vision that enhances both the growth of the tourism sector and the regional economy, strengthening the relationship between investors and the community.
The formal agreement will be ready in the coming weeks, establishing the operational guidelines for the transportation service within the megaproject and the main tourist routes of the Costa Maya, with the expectation of directly benefiting the drivers and their families, in addition to contributing to the consolidation of the destination as a benchmark for luxury tourism in the region.
