Puerto Morelos, Mexico — With the participation of 122 cyclists competing in men’s and women’s categories, the Los Reyes de la Selva race was held this morning, covering 36 kilometers. The event confirms Puerto Morelos as a host for sports events.
The cross-country competition, according to the municipal Sports Director, Renán Cruz Ramírez, took place on an 18-kilometer circuit. The competitors came from Playa del Carmen, Cancún, Chetumal, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Puerto Morelos.
The official commented that the organization of the race involved collaboration between Puerto Morelos Ciclyng Team and the Sports Directorate, which provided medical services, assistance from the Civil Protection Coordination, and ambulances to handle emergencies. He also highlighted the support of The local State, a sponsor that contributed to the effort.
“We provided support and were very attentive to the race because the instruction from Municipal President Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz is to give all institutional support to sports to encourage children and young people to practice some discipline that contributes to their comprehensive development,” he stated.
The starting signal was given at 7:10 in the morning. The cyclists traveled along a dirt road that starts at the limits with Playa del Carmen and reaches the Tren Maya station.
Cruz Ramírez commented that in both branches only the open category was available. In the end, the winners of the top five places were Valentina Naal, Liliana Pérez, Mar Cáceres, Mildred Ramos, and Betty Campos; for the men, Gabriel Rueda, Dennys Sosa, José Luis Domínguez, Aldo Montero, and Fernando Dzib.
