Cancún, Mexico — Personnel from the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) successfully detained three individuals allegedly implicated in the crime of illegal deprivation of liberty in the municipality of Benito Juárez.

The detainees, identified as Ilse Mayleth "N", Vicente "N", and Cananay "N", were apprehended minutes after they attempted to kidnap a man.

The incident was triggered when the victim arranged to meet a woman at an Oxxo store. Upon arriving at the meeting point, a black GMC Yukon Denali SUV abruptly cut off his path. Two men descended from the vehicle and attempted to force him inside to deprive him of his liberty.

The victim managed to escape and took refuge in a nearby taco shop, from where he dialed 911 to request assistance and report the attempted abduction. After receiving the report, the SSC Investigation Group initiated a search that concluded with the location of the alleged criminals.

The detention was carried out on Avenida Kantunilkin, at the corner of Avenida El Cedral and a private street named Cancuen, in Supermanzana 249, within the parking lot of the same Oxxo store in the Privadas Sacbé subdivision. As evidence of the crime, authorities secured a black GMC Yukon Denali and five cell phones.

The three detainees were placed at the disposal of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Combating Kidnapping and Extortion, which will continue with the investigations to determine their legal status.
