Chetumal, MX. Federal judge Tania Gabriela González Rosas, head of the First District Court in Yucatán, confirmed the validity of multiple arrest warrants against Juan Pablo Guillermo Molina, who served as finance secretary during the state administration of Roberto Borge Angulo.
Last November, the judge denied the former official a definitive suspension to avoid arrest, thereby opening the door for ministerial authorities in Quintana Roo, Yucatán, and Mexico City to execute arrest warrants against him.
According to the indirect amparo case file 2395/2021 published on December 8, legal proceedings for the crimes of irregular performance of public function and embezzlement against this official remain active.
The former official is accused of million-dollar diversions and the sale of properties belonging to the state of Quintana Roo.
Among the charges facing the former secretary is embezzlement of 1,055,999,000 pesos contributed by Aguakán to the Potable Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA) to continue its operations.
He is also under investigation for the alleged appropriation of 1,464,000,000 pesos corresponding to the Lodging Tax, earmarked for tourism promotion.
For these crimes, control judges and tribunals of the Chetumal Judicial District issued arrest warrants; the first was issued on June 28, 2017, and was ratified on August 11, 2021.
Like their counterparts in Yucatán and Mexico City, the State Attorney General’s Office is authorized to execute these judicial orders; similarly, the State Secretariat of Public Security has the arrest order in its possession.
It is presumed that the former official is hiding in Yucatán, from where he has filed various amparo petitions to avoid arrest.
