Johana Acosta Conrado, the president of Morena's State Executive Committee (CEE) in Quintana Roo, has sharply criticized José Luis Pech Varguez. Pech Varguez is the state leader of Movimiento Ciudadano, and Acosta Conrado accuses him of attempting to regain national political prominence as Andrés Manuel López Obrador's term ends.
Acosta Conrado refers to Pech Varguez as the head of an "old mafia," which she claims is trying to attract public attention by pretending to be champions of justice. She stated, "The old mafia, though dressed up as something new, is attempting to position themselves as justice heroes for their own benefit." This statement is a clear reference to Pech Varguez and his recent actions.
Acosta Conrado also criticized those who oppose reforms that benefit the public, while defending individuals implicated in proven crimes. She emphasized that in Quintana Roo, "the rule of law exists and is applied," and warned that "today's traitors will always be tomorrow's traitors." This is a direct jab at the Movimiento Ciudadano leader.
The tension escalated when José Luis Pech Varguez publicly defended Francisco Puc Cen, a member of Movimiento Ciudadano, on social media. Puc Cen is currently facing a complaint for negligence in the performance of public duties dating back to 2022. Acosta Conrado's stance highlights the political tension between Morena and Movimiento Ciudadano in the state, as both parties vie for power and public support.
